PM Modi in Italy: Check Out the World Leaders he met at the G7 Summit

On June 14, 2024, PM Modi had productive meetings with world leaders at the G7 Summit. They discussed various global issues and strengthened India's bilateral relations with Germany, Japan, Italy, Canada, the USA, Jordan, France, the UK, Brazil, Turkey and the UAE.

Modi at G7 summit

On June 14, 2024, G7 Summit which was held in Apulia, Italy was attended by numerous world leaders.  The G7 Summit provided a platform for PM Modi to discuss various global issues and strengthen bilateral relations with the leaders of various countries present there.

PM Modi with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz

In his interaction with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, PM Modi described it as “Highly Productive”. PM Modi emphasized on India and Germany’s Strategic Partnership. He highlighted the potential they have for inclusive and sustainable global growth.

“Delight” to Meet Japan’s PM Kishida

When PM Modi met Japanese Prime Minister Kishida, he expressed his “delight” and optimism about India-Japan’s future relations on his X handle. They discussed how they could collaborate in the field of defense, technology, semiconductors, clean/renewable energy and digital technology. They tried to enhance and bolster their ties through infrastructure and cultural linkages. For a peaceful and prosperous Indo-Pacific region, PM Modi emphasized the role of strong India-Japan relations.

Strengthening India and Italy’s Bond

PM Modi had a pretty impressive discussion with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. They focused on key areas like commerce, energy, defense and telecommunication. Both of them focused on India-Italy’s relations and planned for collaboration in futuristic areas such as biofuels, food processing and critical minerals. PM Modi thanked Meloni for inviting India to the G7 Summit and the excellent arrangements made for him.

Diplomatic Ties with Canadian PM Trudeau

PM Modi met Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, amidst the diplomatic tensions between India and Canada. He also shared a photo of him shaking hands with PM Trudeau on X. The meeting took place amidst the allegations of killing of the Khalistani leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar on Canadian soil.  This indicates that they both are willing and ready to solve their differences.

Collaboration with President Biden

PM Modi described his meeting with US President Joe Biden as a pleasure. He posted on X about India’s commitment to work together with the USA for the global good. Both the leaders discussed various topics to further strengthen bilateral cooperation.

Strengthening Ties with Jordan

PM Modi also met King Abdullah bin Al Hussein of Jordan on this visit. He posted on his X handle that they talked about the importance of India and Jordan’s strong relations. 

Meeting UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres

PM Modi on his official X Handle expressed his pleasure discussing the global issues with the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

Invitation to Pope Francis

Not only the world’s political leaders at the G7 Summit, PM Modi also met Pope Francis. He expressed his admiration for Pope Francis’ commitment to serve the people and improve the world. PM Modi invited Pope Francis to visit India. With this he tried to strengthen the cultural and spiritual bond between India and the Vatican.

Discussion with Ukraine’s President Zelenskyy

PM Modi held a productive meeting with Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. In this meeting, they focused on strengthening bilateral relations between both the countries. PM Modi conveyed India’s belief in developing a human-centric approach. Amidst the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, has advocated for dialogue and diplomacy as a way to peace.

Deepening India-France Cooperation

When PM Modi met French President Emmanuel Macron, he emphasized on the strong ties between India and France. They also discussed major topics like defense, security, technology, AI and the Blue Economy. PM Modi also conveyed his best wishes for the upcoming Paris Olympics.

Strengthening India-UK Relations

PM Modi had a delightful meeting with UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. On his X handle he said that he is sure about his commitment to strengthen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between India and UK. They also discussed how to develop their collaboration in semiconductors, technology, trade and defense.

Engaging with Leaders from Brazil, Turkey and UAE

PM Modi had also engaged in a “delightful conversation” between the Brazil President Lula, Turkey President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. They all discussed with PM Modi to develop and strengthen their bilateral relations and coordination.

PM Modi’s participation in the G7 Summit as an Outreach Nation has shown the world India’s proactive role in addressing global challenges and strengthening international partnerships.
